A word about me

Fidgeting, tingling in the legs, a constant desire to travel... And yet, my loved ones, my friends, my clients, often describe me as someone calm, composed, sometimes soothing. I assure you you can combine all this. This is probably why I feel so good when I travel, and why I adapt easily when I live abroad. I have visited more than 50 countries, and lived in 4 of them over a period of 12 years: Canada, Vietnam, Laos and Japan.

Between two trips, I now live in the countryside, in the south of France. When I'm not accompanying travelers, I host them at our bed and breakfast. My wife Ayaka, Japanese, offers to our guests a French-Asian fusion table d'hôte!

My trips and me

Discovering the world

Living abroad, a dream come true!

Travelling is a real job!

My travel highlights: a discovery of Morocco in my 20s, thanks to my parents, that gave me the travel bug. A one-year around the world trip in my thirties which confirms my love for travel... And each new country visited adds new symptoms to this travel illness, which definitely cannot be cured! I have traveled the length and breadth of Southeast Asia, I have seen a large part of South and North America, I have set foot on the soil of many European countries and of some African ones. Around fifty countries in all...

My pleasure is discovering the landscapes, but above all the inhabitants and their culture. Communicating is a need and a satisfaction. I speak French and English, can hold a conversation in Spanish and German, and get by in the street in Japanese, Vietnamese, Laotian... and make myself understood with my hands and a big smile!

A different experience, less nomadic but more in-depth: expatriation. I started in Montreal, Canada, where I lived for 5 years. A dynamic, open, pleasant, green city, and adorable Quebecers. Then a desire for Asia took me to Vietnam for 2 years, to Saigon. Love at first sight for this people and this country to which I return as often as possible. Then Laos, which gave me a perfect balance for 2 years between the countryside and local life, and the international community.

Finally, Japan, the exciting Tokyo, but also an archipelago of great diversity. Four years later, I was de-expatriating! I came back to France, for a different life, in the deep countryside. Lost but not isolated. Quiet but alive. Another form of expatriation.

From this desire to travel came an urge: to earn my living while traveling. Difficult start, since I had no professional experience in tourism until my 30s... But fortunately cruising speed has now been reached. Hired by a publishing house, I wrote and updated around twenty travel guides, then learned on the job how to be a travel agent at Monde Authentique in Paris. In the various countries to which I have moved, I have worked in several local agencies. These missions led me to guide groups of travelers and travel agents in Canada, Burma, Vietnam, Laos... with the pleasure of sharing my passion for these countries!
